the one with 20 & 12 in 2012

I'm just catching up with our New Years resolutions :) Most of our "resolutions" were more ways we'd like to grow in our walk with the Lord. One of our biggest resolutions this year was to pray every day about a big decision we are trying to make about our housing situation. We want to be so confident in the decision we make and we have the great opportunity to spend about 6 months to pray about it. We really want to obey God in this decision.

Our other big one was to spend more time reading and less time on the computer/watching tv. To do this, we set a number of books we want to read this year - 20 & 12 in 2012:: Rob wants to read 20 books and I want to read 12 :)

I know you are supposed to lay out what books you are reading and some people are even organized enough to say what book they are reading when. But I'm more of a free spirit in this area :) I'd rather just see what books I feel like reading throughout the year! (PS my secret goal is to read 20 like Rob but I don't want to get ahead of myself so I'm just saying 12. Let's keep that between you and me)

My list so far:
1. Kisses from Katie - by Katie Davis
2. Catching Fire - by Suzanne Collins
3. Mockingjay - by Suzanne Collins
4. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - by Betty Smith
5. Generous Justice - by Tim Keller
6. Meaning of Marriage - by Tim Keller

I actually have all these books already which is a very promising start. Slready read part 1 of Hunger Games - loved it. On to the next two. My father in law gave us both "Meaning of Marriage" which we are going to read together. And my book club is reading "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" for our next meeting so I have some accountability :)

Rob's list so far:
1. Mother Teresa: Come Be my Light - by Mother Teresa
9. Treasury of Worlds Greatest Speeches - Assorted

Note that he has already read 3.5 books! I think he's on track, pah. It'll be fun to track how many he actually reads - I think it will be way more than 20. He loves history & biographies so I think there will be a lot of those, and we found this awesome book at Goodwill with the Worlds Greatest Speeches which he is really excited to read.

Can't wait to get started! :) Let me know if you have any great book suggestions!

  1. I love this list! My husband and I are setting a similar goal of reading more, tv less - and to read 12+ books this year. I love that just blogging about it some gives me some accountability - keep letting us know how it goes!!

  2. Looks like a wonderful list of resolutions! On a side note, what is the font name that you used on your header? I love it!

  3. sorry to be so delayed in responding, linda! the font is called "before the rain" and you can download it for free at dafont.com :) hope you are well!!
