A Navy & Nautical Nursery for Our Little Boy

Well this is only 10 months late :) But I wanted to share some pictures of our Charlie Boy's nursery! When we envisioned a room for our little boy, I knew I wanted to do navy as a main color. I never get sick of navy, I think it's such a nice masculine color, and I knew that I would reuse anything that I got for this room in the future. We decided to add a slight nautical theme as well since we hope that Charlie will grow up to be a brave, courageous, adventurous explorer! :)

(Wall color - Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore - same color from when this was Kate's nursery)

First up- gallery wall! We reused what we had here, except for the C and the oar! We spray-painted 2 old frames and the mirror with navy paint. I bought this print from Jones Design Company. Top left is a sailing picture that Rob took at the beach. Top right is a little DIY art I made with letter stamps (it says "sail away with me" over and over - from one of my favorite songs "Sail Away" by David Gray). And the hats are hand-me-downs from sweet, generous friends!

Better picture of the gallery wall. We got a similar changing pad cover to Kate's (just the boy version). The basket holds diapers and wipes. We learned this time to put the baby powder, lotion, etc. on the left side of the changing cover so Charlie doesn't kick it off :)

This beautiful bookshelf was lent to us from my dear friend, Meredith. I love it - it's so beautiful! The vintage books are also from Kate's nursery. The wooden box was bought for me by Rob in Ethiopia. The tiny frame and verse were a sweet gift from my sister, Sarah, back when we were expecting Kate. The art above the bookshelf was made by me, based off of this design.

Art in progress... I painted over the previous canvas (it was just Walmart art) and then wrote in pencil and traced over it with navy pencil. It's not perfect but it's a verse we pray Charlie would hold fast to throughout his life.

On the table beside the glider...Rob bought me this print as a gift after Charlie was born :) I love it! Love me some Jen Hatmaker.

My sweet friends made me this banner at Charlie's sprinkle...and I decided to keep it in his nursery for the first few months :)

The map above the chair is actually something Rob has had for several years from his grandparents. I love that we were able to incorporate it - it fits perfectly!

The blanket on the chair was actually a quilt my sister, Rebecca, started for my brother, Will, when my mom was pregnant with him. She never finished it but she found it and finished it for Charlie! Obviously cried many tears when she surprised me with it at my family shower. What a thoughtful gift! I will cherish it forever.

The lamp on the side table is from Rob's baby nursery :)

The pouf is from Target.
The whale is from Target. I bought it when I first found out I was pregnant, before we knew it was a boy...I had a pretty strong hunch though :) I made the mobile. The light is leftover from Kate's nursery. The bumper is a hand-me-down from my nephews' cribs.

Teddy bear gifted from Rob's grandparents. Sheets are from Babies-R-Us!

And here's our little boy in his room (5 days old)! The rug is from RugsUSA - we love it!! It was a great buy! But obviously we love our little boy more :)
