Dining Room Update

The last time you saw our dining room, it looked like this:

The biggest change we made to our dining room was building a farmhouse table! We used Ana White's plans and I love love love it. It's probably my favorite thing we've built (okay...3-way tie between that and the built-ins and our bed :)). We built it awhiiiile ago (March 2014). It was our first major project since becoming parents AND our first one with a Kreg jig! We love our Kreg jig now and use it all the time.

Here are some in process pictures when we built the table...

The chairs we are using are a mix of Target chairs (the fabric chairs), Craigslist/thrift store chairs, and an antique bench from Rob's grandparents that I LOVE. I think eventually we'll paint all the wood chairs a light light gray, but I'm enjoying the mix & match look right now. Here it is today!

We also made this mantle for our dining room! This is where we hang out stockings, and decorate seasonally :) We modified this tutorial (obviously no hooks).

Still to be done:
Paint chairs
Build coffee bar in bay window
Change out light (eventually)
Change out frames for my variation in size and layering
Add a rug
Maybe replace wall of crosses with a big mirror to reflect some light around

  1. I'm so glad you posted it - we miss having a fireplace soooo badly, and I've been wanting to make a mantle so we can hang our family stalkings this Christmas!

    1. I was so bummed when we didn't have a fireplace too! It really is a great solution and I love it all year-round - but especially at Christmas :)
